The recording features the ambient noise on deck, mainly the drone of the ship and it's diesels, some sea in the background, and the occasional door opening and closing. Recorded with a zoom h2n. Shed door opens, then closed. First with a metallic click to unlock and followed by a long opening creaking door. Once opened there is a plastic rustle and the door closes with an even longer spooky creaking noise. Followed by a clunk when shut and a metallic click to lock the shed door. Silence back and front.

Wasn't going to upload this, but it was pointed out to me that it sounds like the intro to a song in a minor key. Not sure i see that, but the suggestion is that some composer will seize on it as an opening to an instrumental that fits it. I want to see if that will happen. If that's not practical, i feel sure someone will find a use for it.

Now this sfx is my pride and joy. I acted quickly to get materials to work together to make this sound. I pulled a rope through the belt-eyes of some short pants, which would be the ropes releasing from the bag. Then i fluttered the pants to sound asif wind and the parachute material was colliding, making the sound so much more convincing.

A mid morning field recording on 05 march 2021 in our rural garden. There is a road at the side of the garden but i have removed what i could hear of the few cars that passed by. Also removed sounds of a gate and doors opening and closing. There was a slight breeze that a wind sock didn't entirely prevent coming through as wind noise. I have cut most of this.

This is taken from (and an answer to) mxsmanic's "trip on métro line 9 in paris, france", at 2:20 exactly: metro on rails through the tunnel, which resonance creates this sound (very familiar to me as i live here). Interesting to notice that the sound's frequency stays around 483hz, which was (in the ancient solfeggio frequency science attributed to pythagoras) the frequency of "opening consciousness".

A slow, fingerpicked chord progression on a 6-string guitar. I recorded this using my zoom h4n recorder and some external, stereo microphones. The microphones were the samson c0-2 and i had them mounted on two separatemicrophone stands: 1 was pointed at my left hand on the fret board to hopefully get the finger-squeaks, and the other microphone was pointed right above the sound-hole about 3 inches above the opening. I recorded this using my small sony cybershot camera. You'll notice that the wind goes from loud to soft to loud again, repeating. This because i am opening the window wide and then after a few seconds i close the window but not completely so that i get some low whistling sounds from the wind. A recording of anything i could do with two empty 1,5 l plastic bottles. A lot of sounds you can squeeze from a plastic bottles. Just no sounds of opening and closing a s i didn't have the caps. Recorded on september 4, 2020 on an ipad. Some parts or maybe even all of it may sound like just noise to some people. It was recorded in a government fenced in square. So there are buildings on 3 sides of my location and a gated entrance at the front. It is mainly drums that are played for a dragon dance. These dances are performed at special occasions, such as a new business opening. There is a troop of about 8 people there to perform the dance. For the first half of the recording, the two dragons (four people) were preparing and they were actually performing the dance for the second half of this recording.

This is a whole lot of longsword-on-longsword sounds. I was specifically trying to get nice sounds for "winding", when two swords are pushed back and forth and around each other as opponents look for an opening. There are also some "binding" sounds, when the two swords first clash. Some of these binding noises did peak the mic. None of these binding noises were the swords hitting at full force - they are all weaker binds. Pick and choose the noises you like to build your sword fight foley.

This wa maybe my first attempt at doing something that i would describe as steve reich-y (not knowing very much about steve reich) which is a method i got slightly obsessed with. Basically (for me) it was creating a short measure for a few instruments (apso uploaded here) but then layering them, slightly and increasingly out of time, so that they go out of phase and create a huge trippy musical canvas that you couldn't have predicted from the opening measure (well i couldn't, but i know nothing about music).

On many days i take a two mile walk from my house to my job. One gorgeous day i took my zoom h1 and sampled audio at various points during this walk. To avoid footsteps, i recorded each location standing still. In this file i gradually crossfade between the different locations. The walk begins on a suburban street, goes past a park where children are playing baseball, then a busy intersection, then a factory with open windows. A couple planes can be heard overhead. The last thing in the recording is the door of my job opening. ----recorded with internal microphones of a zoom h1.

This sound is a mix of analog sound and digitally created sound. I recorded the sound of a coffee machine. Then on audacity, i generated a tone and modified its envelope. I changed the levels, added effects as reverberation and echo. I put melted at opening and closing in purpose to pretend something was taking off and landing. At first i wanted to create the atmosphere of a spaceship. But after that it looked more like a vacuum noise. I tried to modify amplification and added again echo and reverberation to make it sound more like a weird ufo. This sound is completely analog. I recorded the sound of a person who was walking on the street. I chose to leave the noise of the street so that we understand that the person walks outside. I used the effect "amplification" to reduce the noise of the street and increase the sound of step. I made a fade in opening and closing, so that we have the impression that the steps are moving towards us then moves away. At the same time, i played with the pitch of the sound to accentuate this effect. I took the raw recording and used goldwave's mechanize effect to translate my voice to a center frequency of 14khz. I then demodulated it first at 10. 6 and then 10. 2khz meaning that what comes out is essentially the opposite sideband, offset by 3. 4 and 3. 8khz respectively. 3khz just didn't sound as good. The first i filtered with a low pass of 2. 9khz, the second was filtered to below 3. 4khz to emulate a communications receiver passband. I am speaking upside down as described in this video. This sound is recorded directly from one of my original 1938 98cc light motorbikes. This time is a express (manufaturer) sl 102 (type). The noise you hear is all specific.
